Child/Teen Therapy

Therapy for children and teens at Anchored Hope is tailored to support both the individual child/teen and also the parents/family in the therapeutic process. We often explain the need for parent involvement in their child’s therapy as a key piece to the therapeutic work. Our providers also often collaborate with the school system/pediatricians/community providers in order to support the client in generalizing coping skills outside of session.

It’s important to note that we only have so many 3 p.m. or later appointment times. We wish we could see every child/teen at an ideal time for the school and sports schedule, but that is not always possible. It is very common for youth to miss school to attend therapy sessions. We work closely with the school to determine the appropriateness of missing school in order to support the whole child (mentally and academically).

Parent Child Interaction Therapy - PCIT

Parent Child Interaction Therapy, or PCIT, is an evidence-based treatment for parents and children between the ages of 2 and 7. This model supports parents to learn strategies that help them effectively manage behavioral challenges.

Non Directive Play Therapy

Non-directive play therapy is a non intrusive approach to treatment for children and teens. The purpose is to create a safe environment in which the client can express, explore, and learn to regulate thoughts and feelings.

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or TF-CBT is an evidence-based treatment for ages 3-18 to help them recover from trauma. TF-CBT addresses symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder and other diagnoses that may be present after an individual experiences trauma.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or CBT, is a more traditional approach to therapy that supports individuals to understand the connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions and how our inaccurate perceptions can impact our mood and behaviors. CBT promotes identification of distorted thinking and implementation of more effective thinking strategies.
