HEALING WORK

Therapy with me… I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, workplace stress, post-traumatic stress disorders, persistent emotional disorders, interpersonal concerns, and navigating the day-to-day concerns of life, with special attention given to the context that surrounds everyone. I employ a person centered, integrative approach to therapy by infusing evidence-based modalities to address the client/s presenting concerns. This means that therapy will be tailored to your specific needs based on research based approved assessments and techniques.  I believe that the client is the pilot of the therapeutic journey, and I serve as the map to getting there. My role is that of a teammate collaborating with you to implement change in your life.

My impacting identities/roles that inform my work… I am a heterosexual African American divorced single mother. I wasn’t born with Rockafella as my last name, but my parents worked hard to afford me a comfortable upbringing. I attended Catholic private school throughout my entire formal educational years.  I attended an HBCU where I was able to expand my core beliefs while developing life and leadership skills that have allowed me the wonderful opportunity to specialize in treatment modalities that address your needs. I am a direct kind of person. I do not believe in hiding truths that I know you are looking to explore, but I am sensitive to values that are significant to your very progress and wellbeing.

I feel informed and knowledgeable about… My strengths are utilizing components of psychotherapy, play therapy, meditation, mindfulness, and conscious fitness. I can understand the individual’s internal narratives, motivations, and needs while considering their cultural influences. I have gained beneficial experience working with people individually and in group dynamics. I have worked with individuals throughout the lifespan of maturation and cognitive functioning, from adolescents to couples and family systems therapy all the way to addictions and trauma informed care, as well as career counseling.

What makes me unique:

I am an empathic person who has experienced her fair share of trials, setbacks, heart aches, and trauma. I am sensitive to the needs of others and believe in spreading hope wherever I am stationed in life. Those that I have worked with have loving named me Thee Hope Dealer. My approach is direct and authentic. I am not afraid to go to the dark places to find the light with you.
