Kimberly Walker is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and a Certified Child and Adolescent Trauma Therapist (CTP). She received her Undergraduate degree from Delaware State University, and her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh. She has over nine years of experience working in the health care field and over seven years of experience working providing therapeutic services to individuals with an impairment in social, relational, vocational, and occupational endeavors.
Kimberly has worked as an outpatient mental health therapist in an in-home and office setting providing therapy to children, teens, and young adults who are presenting with behavioral symptoms connected to anxiety, depression, and childhood trauma. Kimberly has completed training from the Beck Institute of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and continues to practice as she works towards becoming a Beck Certified Cognitive-Behavioral Clinician.
Kimberly has a diverse service background. She is the Founder of A Little Self Love, a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating the stigma of Mental Health Therapy and helping BIPOC receive better accessibility to therapeutic services. She serves as a Board Member of Y-Social Work, Inc a multi-racial, multi-issue, progressive network of social workers and allies creating social change in human services, and a founding member of the Social Workers 4 Justice- DMV organization (SW4J- a branch of Y-Social Work, Inc). SW4J is dedicated to promoting restorative justice by mobilizing social workers in protests across the DMV and Baltimore Area. Kimberly Co-Leads the Movement Care Trauma Response team for SW4J that works with providing de-escalation and emotional support for protestors that experience and or are experiencing trauma physically, emotionally, and or spiritually.
Kimberly believes in utilizing an eclectic approach to therapy and believes in building a strong therapeutic relationship to create an environment that assures safety and trust to offer clients more than what they can receive from family, friends, and the internet.
