Therapy with me… I am a Reality Therapist and it is based on Choice Theory by William Glasser. I use my clients worldview and goals to direct and administer treatment. Support is key for full integration and healing.
My impacting identifies/roles that inform my work… Culturally, I am of African descent. I am also neurodivergent, as well as a parent.
I feel informed and knowledgeable about… I am trained in issues related to: anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, and family/ relationship challenges
I work best with clients who… are consistent, patient and have an earnest desire to implement changes into their life to address treatment concerns.
I am not a good clinical fit for… younger clients or clients who are in immediate distress or crisis. I may not be the best fit for individuals who interact adversely with male figures.
What makes me unique: I am the only African male clinician here at Anchored Hope Therapy as well as my training in Internal Family Systems, my background in Rehabilitation Counseling. Another distinction is my aptitude toward continued learning and professional development to address systemic barriers that prevent more people from marginalized communities accessing care in an affirmative way.
I am currently increasing my professional development with becoming certified telehealth provider as well as additional trauma certifications to increase my capacity to serve.
What resources me to build resilience: Operating within the strength of my culture, being in community all support my work toward building resilience. I also am a huge fan of comedy and laughter as intentional medicine.
